In 1989 a group of fans and musicians, dedicated to the music of Parliament and Funkadelic held a Funk Mob Reunion in Annapolis, Maryland. The reunion went on to become an annual function. In 1990, George “Dr. Funkenstein” Clinton, having heard of the band, was invited to witness his clones. Being moved by the talent of the band, George joined in the performance. A few years later, he invited the band to play for his birthday party in New York City. George continues his high regard for this group, and his wish to “get in the studio with you guys” was granted in November 2000. George brought members of his P-Funk Allstars to mix vibes with the Clones of Funk with the session ending after dawn. continue reading…
The songwriting duo came up with the catchy, bubblegum singalong “Tracy”, which became an international hit. Released in 1969 by Decca Records and distributed by MCA/Universal, Dante was the sole multi-voiced singer on the original recording but once the song charted, a group was specially created comprising Pat Rizzo (saxophone), Rick Dimino (keyboards), Bob Gill (trumpet/flugelhorn/flute), Dave Lavender (guitar), Andrew “Junior” Denno (bass), Joe Cord (vocals) and Danny Valentine (drums). Dante decided not to tour with the group.

An artist incapable of stopping the process of creation, ellen cherry ahs recorded and released original music continuously since 1997. Although her main instruments are acoustic and electric guitar and voice, ellen also writes, records and performs on piano, cello, squeezebox, mandolin, and the jitterbug (an instrument that has not been invented yet). Kenny Adamski – Drums and leader of the T.K.O. band. Kenny was raised on Polka music. His Father, Lenny, headed the Lenny Adams and the Polka Stars Band in Baltimore for many years, and was truly a pioneer in the Baltimore Polka music scene. Kenny’s musical career began in 1970, at the impressionable age of 10, with the guitar. He found that the guitar was simply not loud enough, and decided to play the bass guitar for a year. In 1948, 28-year-old Olindo Monaldi came to America from Pesaro, a small seaport town on the Adriatic coast of the Marche region of Italy. Olindo was an only child and decided to leave home to become a merchant seaman. However, when he got to Norfolk, Virgina and reached the land of plenty, he decided to jump ship. All he had in his pocket was three dollars, the name of an Italian friend in Baltimore (who had jumped ship in 1939,) and his trumpet.
The Wayfarers were formed by Brad Dunnells and Jason Tinney in 1998. Dunnells and Tinney co-founded the popular and award-winning Irish American group Donegal X-Press, but as early as 1999, the two men could also be found in the Baltimore/DC area under the name “The Finn and Seamus Project,” an acoustic duo performing original tunes and stripped down versions of the Irish ballads and rebel songs that made up the bulk of Donegal X-Press live set lists. continue reading…
Irishtown Road, a traditional Irish musical group, based in the Adams-York County, PA area,
has been on the Celtic music scene since 1997.
The versatile repertoire of Irishtown Road consists of traditional folk songs and some traditionally arranged original work featuring intricate vocal harmonies and instrumental variety. With two albums to their credit and another in the works, the Adams-York area’s longest-tenured Irish musical group is in their 13th year of performing together. In that time, the band has firmly established themselves as a fixture in the regional Celtic music scene and they enjoy playing year
after previously entertaining area crowds only around St. Patrick’s Day. Due to the overwhelming response to their appearances, the musicians decided to become an official band. The versatile repetoire of Irishtown Road consists mostly of traditional songs in the style of the Clancy Brothers, the Bothy Band, the Chieftains and the Mollys, jigs and reels, and the tunes of Turlough O’Carolan, among others, with traditionally arranged original work included.
The quintet is now made up of siblings Brian Colgan of McSherrystown (vocals, fiddle, guitar, and flute) Eileen Colgan Bowling of Gettysburg (vocals, whistles, & percussion) ; Joe Clark of Hanover (bodran, hammered dulcimer, various percussion and vocals), Denny Seitz of Red Lion (banjo, banjola and vocals); Rodney Owens of Harrisburg (uilleann pipes and vocals and Ben Weak of Gardners (bass guitar, mandolin and vocals).
The band took its name from the main road through the south-central Pennsylvania village where the Colgans’ great-grandfather and his family settled after emigrating from Dromore, County Tyrone in the north of Ireland.
Irishtown Road, released their first album, a self-titled collection of original music in March of
2000 to great reviews. Their second CD titled The Road Home was released in 2005. Their third album, The One Road, a collection of live recordings and studio cuts is set to be released in 2009.
