Brian Colgan began his professional music career as a teenager in Hanover, Pennsylvania in 1971, when he helped form his first band, The Sound Experiment. As a vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player, he forged a reputation as a solid singer, musician, and performer in the nearby in the nearby Pennsylvania/Maryland area. For several decades he performed, improving as a singer and entertainer and picked up several other instruments such as the flute, violin, mandolin and pedal steel guitar. He also began, in those first years, writing his own tunes and has continued to hone his skill as a songwriter over the years. He gained local notoriety as a found member of such bands as Summer Solstice, Pegasus, Spring Fever, Native Sun, and the Colgan Brothers Band. In the nineties he also started doing solo gigs and formed a traditional Irish folk band called Irishtown Road. He continues to perform solo, with Irishtown Road, and with classic rock/pop band, 6c. In the early 90’s he began recording a solo anthology of original songs. After 2”albums” (entitle the Early Years ’71 to 73’ and “the Changes”) work continues on the rest of the anthology which contains about 8 albums worth. Irishtown Road’s third CD, On the One Road is currently in production. He produced 6c debut CD “Head’s Up” with band-mate John Keefauver handing the engineer duties, When playing solo Brian sings and plays acoustic pop, rock, folk, country, a bit of blues and jazz and even some classical music.
A mainstay in his hometown area and beyond, Brian is beginning his fourth decade as a reputable, in-demand, professional musician and shows no signs of slowing down.
